2017 Makeup Favourites

In some ways, 2017 flew buy, but in other ways, it felt like it was one of the longest years ever! I had started the year with the plan to be in London by the end, which did work out. But the process and waiting for the big move was frustrating at times. But all in all, it was a good year. With my favourites this year, I decided to be a bit a lazy on only talk about things I got this year that are my favourites, not a product for each category. Let me know what your favourites have been this year in the comments below.

A Beauty Anti Haul

As a self confessed lover of all things beauty and skincare related, I purchase more than the average person on beauty products. That being said, I am still very good at saving my money so I know when to real in the spending and give my bank account a bit of a boost. This means most of my purchases are well thought out, sometimes there is an occasional brain fade and I purchase something on a whim, and when new products come out I read reviews and take a while to decide if I want it because I want it or because or the hype around the product. But there are always a few products that right off the bat I know that I definitely do not want. Either because I don't believe the hype around them or that I know that I will never use that product.

Recently there have been a few blog posts and videos that instead of being a haul, they are an anti-haul. I think the first person to start this idea is Kimberly Clark, whose videos are so entertaining. But I really like this kind of video/post because instead of talking about things you buy, they talk about why they don't want certain products and almost is a way of convincing me that I don't need these products. So here are some of the products that I will definitely not be buying in the future.

A Holiday Makeup Haul

After getting back from holiday on Friday night, I have finally finished unpacking. By unpacking, I mean that everything is out of my suitcase just not back in it's original place. oops. But fingers crossed, I can motivate myself to do it before I go back to work tomorrow. I spent 10 days in New Zealand on a road trip with friends, becoming one with nature and adventure, I crawled through a cave in water to see glow worms, hiked up a extinct volcano, and luged down the side of some mountains. As you may or may not know, I am definitely not an outdoor person, so that 10 days was pretty full on and exhausting. So 4 nights in Melbourne by myself to relax and shop was a nice end to trip.

A Colourful Colourpop Haul

Lately I've been feeling a bit more experimental with my makeup and wanting to wear more colours on my eyes. So I thought, why not do a Colourpop haul? For 5 USD each, their eyeshadows are amazing quality and a great way to experiment with different colours without spending heaps of money on eyeshadow you may never wear again.

Mid Year Beauty Favourites

So we have officially passed the halfway mark of the year and seriously, where did time go! I feel like I can vividly remember days in January and February like it was only the other week. This year, I don't think I have done any favourites posts and that's because I felt pressured every month to find a group of products that I have loved which were different to the months before. I just wasn't buying a lot of new stuff to be able to do these kinds of posts so I thought I would get all the products that I have tried this year (but not necessarily launched this year) and been in love with!

Exams :(

Hello!

Today is such a nice day outside, but I'm stuck inside, practicing for my last exam :( Which is in 6 days, but who's counting! I am so excited for it all to be over and done with because I have planned a shopping spree for when I finish. I have a list of all these beauty products I have been wanting to try for a while, and I've been on a spending ban for a few weeks. So when it's all over, I'm going into the city to stock up on all these products! Usually the money that I probably will spend on this spree, is not the sort of money I have all the time, it's just because I've been saving it for a while.

But for the meantime, I'm stuck inside practicing for the next 6 days, not soaking up sun and enjoying this lovely weather. Not fun.

But I hope everyone else out there is enjoy the weather which your country is offering right now!

Review: Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

Hello all!

I'm going to do my first review and I hope you all enjoy it! Excuse my descriptive language as English wasn't exactly my best subject. Anyway, to the review!

Today I will be reviewing Rimmel's Apocalips Lip Lacquer, which I have in the shade "501 Stellar". I LOVE Rimmel's lip products so I was super excited to try this out!

"It's the End of Colour as you know it! The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine. It's neither a lipstick nor a gloss... It's BIGGER than both! LONG LIVE THE COLOUR!" - Rimmel's website.

This is probably one of the best lip products I have brought! I've only had this for about a month and I've worn it around 6 times. The pigmentation in this lacquer is bloody amazing! And it also lasts a long time, which is another great feature of this product. I was out at dinner the other night and I wore this. I applied it at around 5:30, and started eating around 7:30. I was going to re-apply it but I left it at home (False alarm, it was just in the bottom of my bag). So when I got home I was like "oh no, it's all rubbed off, bummer", but NO! Well, it was a little faded, but the colour was still there, which is amazing since I was eating. I'm always self conscious when I'm out eating with lippy on because it can rub off and leave the lipstick around the outer edges of your lip but the centre has been rubbed off so you keep having to re-apply it.

So this colour I would say is a coral red shade (see, I told you I'm bad with the describing). And it's super duper bright. At first, when I saw the colour, I was a bit skeptical with wether or not it would suit me as I tend to wear deep red shades of lipstick. But I really love this, it's a real summery colour and just all round pretty!

So to sum this up, I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting lip gloss satiny feel with loads of colour. This comes in 7 other shades for you all to try out. A few shades of pink, a couple of nudes and a bright pink! At Priceline, they retail for $15.95, so I think it's pretty amazing for what you pay for it! I will definitely be going back to get some more :)

Hello!

Hello all!

My name is Lauren and I have decided to start a blog. I have wanting to do this for quite sometime and I have finally got off my lazy bottom and created this! YAAAAY! I love watching beauty vlogs and reading beauty blogs and felt very inspired by them all. My love for beauty and fashion has been steadily increasing over the past few years and I want to share my experiences with you all. All these beauty reviews help me out and I wanted to give something back.

A few things that you should know about me is that I'm from Australia, I'm currently studying Classical Performance and I spend way to much money!

Also, I will probably also post some of my rambles on here. Trust me, they might sound a bit crazy, so bare with me! And stuff about music, because it is my life!

I have exams coming up in a few days, so once those are over, my holidays will begin. This means I will be able to put lots of time and attention into this.

Love Lauren xx
