The Start of Something New . . .

Did anyone get the reference to High School Musical? No? . . . Anyone? I was a pretty hardcore HSM fan back in the day. It's been 8 years since it came out. Wow! Anyway, I'm going waaaay off topic. I treated myself to 2 M.A.C lipsticks this month, and I've been having premonitions that this collection will be growing a lot in the future.

Left: Mehr (Matte)    Right: Diva (Matte)
I bought Diva first as I wanted to start off my collection with my favourite colour of lipstick; deep red. This one is definitely a deep burgundy and the pigmentation is incredible! I found that it didn't dry out my lips like other matte lipsticks and it last quite a while. Mehr is one I had never really heard of but I wanted a pinky nude colour, saw this and immediately fell in love. It's a dirty blue pink that's matte as well. I think next time I visit a M.A.C counter, I'll try out another formula other than matte, I need to be adventurous!

Are any of you building a collection? What are your favourites? Let me know!

An Organised Life

I am on a mission to become organised. I say this every year, but this year is different. I'm in my second year of uni and I'm a unorganised mess! So I went out and bought a Kikki.K Personal Planner in Grey. It so beautiful! So from now on, I'm going to start documenting my (hopefully successful) road to organisation. Wish me luck!

A Fresh Change

My original plan for this blog was for it to be solely dedicated to beauty. But over the past few weeks, I've felt the urge to post about other things but thought twice about doing it. So I've decided that my blog is no longer going to be just about makeup, but  a whole bunch of other things; music, organisation, fashion and some random things that pop into my head.

The most beautiful picture I have ever taken. Paris, April 2011.
This picture doesn't really relate to anything I'm saying in this post. It's just there to remind me of where I want to be in the next few years. Not specifically Paris, just Europe in general. I'm hoping that this change will motivate me to blog more and share my thoughts with you!

My Everyday Face

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting lately, uni has been absolutely hectic! But this week is my week off so I'll try and write as much as possible! Anyway, I always love looking at what people use on an everyday basis because it shows the products that they trust the most to wear day to day. So here are mine!

FACE
Firstly, I prime my face using the Napoleon Perdis Auto-Pilot Pre- Foundation Skin Primer. This stuff makes your skin baby smooth which helps your foundation glide on smoothly. Next, the foundation. I use M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid in NW10 with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I have oily skin so this foundation is great at keeping the oil at bay during the day, has amazing coverage and I finally found a foundation that perfectly matches my skin! Then I conceal my blemishes with M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer in NW20 and for underneath my eyes I use Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. Then I set it all with my SAVVY Mineral Loose Powder in Translucent. This stuff is amazing and dirt cheap! To finish it off, I then apply M.A.C Powder Blush in Melba. This colour goes with any look so it's great for everyday, and when you want to go from day to night without changing a whole lot.

EYES
I keep my eyes simple for the day. Starting off, I use M.A.C Paint Pot in Painterly. Perfect for nuturalising your eyelids to get rid of veins. Some days I skip eyeshadow but my favourite simple one swipe eyeshadow is Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow in 03 Lucky Penny. I think they have discontinued this, MEGA SAD FACE, but I bought a spare before they took it away. This shade is a perfect everyday pinky beige with shimmer and would look amazing on anyone! This was also my very first eyeshadow, my Mum gave it to me when I was about 10 and as you can see it's almost gone. Nooooooo! Next is mascara, and I use Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless and this is fantastic! No clumps, just perfect black lashes. When I can be bothered to do my brows, I use Maybelline Master Shape in Deep Brown.

LIPS
I always keep it simple during the day because I'm at uni everyday, and wearing certain lip products can damage my flute so I just use my trusty Maybelline Baby Lips to keep my lips moisturised. If I do wear anything on my lips, it's Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Peony which is a great everyday colour.

Voila! This is what I wear on my face almost everyday! Hope you enjoy!

Disappointing Products #1

I really don't like to say that these products are disappointing, it's just that this was easier to say rather than "Products that I'd thought I'd like, the I tried them and they just didn't agree with me #1". Phew. I bought these products thinking they would be great. However when I tried them out, I just didn't like them.

Face of Australia Liquid Illuminator, Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, Revlon Colorburst Balm in Charm, and Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeliner.
Firstly, the Face of Australia Mineral Therapy Illuminator in Angel Mist, this is something I regret purchasing. Why did I buy this!? You get 50ml for some ridiculously cheap price so that's probably why I thought I'd give it a go. It's super runny and the shimmer doesn't show on your skin. Not a fan. Next, the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. Everyone but me seems to love this. Whenever I wore this, my face turned into an oil slick. Plus, I bought the lightest shade which is still way to dark for me. But on the plus side, that packaging is so darn pretty, maybe that's why I bought it. Such a shame. Next, the Revlon Colorburst Balm in Charm. Unintentional rhyming by the way! Now it's not all of the balms I don't like, it's just this colour. The rest of the balms are amazing! It's just that this colour does nothing on my lips. I thought it would give me a nude lip colour but, I can't see any colour at all. Lastly, the Rimmel ScandelEyes Eyeliner. The only reason I don't like this eyeliner is the felt tip. This one isn't a smooth as some others so it just tugs in my eyelids. This means my eyeliner is messier than usual. Bummer.

Do you agree with me on these products or do you love them? Let me know if you have any tips for making these products work better. Have a fabulous day!
