2 Hits And A Miss From Max Factor

Max Factor is one brand at the drugstore which I never seem very interested in. They're products weren't widely talked about on blogs or YouTube, and their prices are at the higher end of the drugstore. But lately, they've had a few new releases that have been catching everyone's eye, so I'd though I would try them out for myself.

The Hits

The Max Factor Facefinity Primer was so hyped up in the blogging world for a long time before it reached Australian stores so I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of this to the aisles of Priceline. This is one of the primers that I can rely on to keep my makeup in place all day. Some times if I'm wearing my makeup for a long period of time, I do have to blot my face but the makeup is still like it was when I put it on which is fantastic.

I never thought I'd be a blush person. I used to despise it and now I own 5. Crazy how minds can be changed. One blush that has become my obsession over the past month is the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve. These have been described as a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes and I would have to agree on that. They look very similar in the pan and both have that finely milled texture to them. This one just add a subtle hint of colour to my cheeks and a glow, and it's the only brush I've been wearing since I got it!

The Miss

I was so excited to try this mascara, the Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara, as the brush looked really funky. Also, a lot of people seem to rave about Max Factor mascaras and I've never tried one before. However, after the first coat on my lashes, I immediate disliked it. There's something about the formula that I really don't like. It's a very thick formula so it's difficult to brush through your lashes and feels really sticky. Also, I found it did nothing spectacular to my lashes. This mascara was definitely a disappointment.

My Top 5 from LUSH

I am a self confessed LUSH lover. There, I said it! Ever since being introduced to the brand in late 2013, I've been obsessed ever since. Their range of skincare and haircare is so wide, so no matter what your concerns are, they can cater for you! I've bought a mix of bath bombs, skincare, haircare, and body care, so I've tried a big range so I thought I'd share my top 5 products! *in no particular order*

Seanik Solid Shampoo Bar
This is one of their solid shampoo bars which at first, I was a bit skeptical about it. I thought it would be so difficult to get the product to lather and transfer to my hair. But it turns out it's actually quite easy. I just rub it in a few circles on thew top of my head and the rub in the lather. It lathers quite well and has a sent that is almost exactly like the Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub, probably because the ingredients are very similar. It makes my hair feel a lot softer and adds a bit of body to it as well.

Roots Hair Treatment
Towards the end of last year, I noticed that my hair was looking lot thinner than usual. I've always had really thick hair so I wanted to try a mask to help my hair out. It has mint in it which helps stimulating your scalp to encourage hair growth and I find a difference after I use this in my hair's appearance.

D'Fluff Strawberry Shaving Soap
This one is newer to stores in Australia, and I was curious about this product. It just replaces your regular shaving, and it smells better and it's pink. It probably isn't the most necessary product, unless your sensitive to regular shaving creams, but I love it. It leaves my legs feeling smooth and they don't feel irritated after cleaning all the product off.

Tea Tree Water Toner Water
This is just a regular spritzing toner but I feel that it does help to sooth my skin. I always spritz this on my face after taking off my makeup and cleansing my face. It's refreshing and the tea tree in it helps yo sooth any breakouts on my face.

Golden Wonder Bath Bomb
Now this is a Christmas product, so it is only available from late November to the end of December. But when it comes out, you must get your hands on it! I have three sitting in my bathroom cupboard because I couldn't let myself be without it for so long. The scent is hard to describe, it's warm citrus-y scent that is perfect for winter, which is ironic because when this comes out in Australia, it's summer. It turns your bath a sparkly turquoise and you always feel super soft after a LUSH bath.

What are your favourite products from LUSH?

MOTD | My 20th Birthday

On Good Friday, I turned the big 20. I am now an official adult which makes me slightly terrified. I can no longer blame my silly actions on my teenage self, because that period is officially over. I don't feel like an adult, I still feel 18. Partly because overtime I go to a bar, I spend 5 minutes at the door with the security guard looking back and forth from my ID to me going "Really? Are you sure?". The struggles of a baby face. I had family over for a chilled out day and chocolate cake, so I went for an amped up everyday look.

To prime, I used the bareMinerals Prime Time Neutralising Foundation Primer which is a yellow-toned primer which is great at correcting my skin, which means I can use as little bit less foundation. I then buffed in my NARS Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc which is my one of my favourite foundations. To conceal blemishes, I used NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla and for under my eyes, the MAC Pro Longer in NW15. To set it all, I used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light which is great at setting my makeup but not mattifying it and letting the finish of the foundation come through. The only blush I've been using at the moment is the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve. It gives a sheer glow to the cheeks with a subtle hint of colour, I'm obsessed!

To prime my eyelids, I used the NARS Smudge Proof Eye Primer and to neutralise the base I used the MAC Paint Pot in Painterly. I used my Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette to create my eye look. I cannot for the life of my remember what colours I used but it was something really simple. I've been loving the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Corrupt because like it's name, it glides on so smoothly. For mascara, I used my trusty Clinique High Impact Mascara and for eyebrows, I filled them in with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz in Soft Brown. For my lips I used MAC Lipstick in Mehr which a blue toned neutral pink which is slightly darker than my lips.
