August Favourites | 2014

Well August went by quickly, I just want everything to slow down a bit so I can have a breather because life has been so busy lately, especially for uni. But enough of the typical "it's all moving so quickly" intro and on to the favourites.

Firstly, my order off Ulta arrived this month. I only got a few things and the Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer is one of them. I had tried a sample of this from Mecca Cosmetica and immediatly fell in love. I ordered this off Ulta because of the price difference but now that Mecca has dropped its prices, I'll stock up there from now on. This foundation just seems to glide on my skin and blends nicely, with a medium coverage and semi-matte finish. This with the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer is a match made in heaven. The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer has been another favourite of mine this past month. It does such a good job of covering up my under-eye circles and doesn't crease at all.

I tend to stick with the same shampoo for a long time, but this month I tried something new and I've been converted. The Lush I Love Juicy Shampoo is great for my greasy hair. I come out of the shower and my hair feels so clean! I can go up to 3 days now without washing my hair, maybe even 4 with a bit of help from some dry shampoo. But that is pretty amazing for my hair. Lastly, the Clinique High Impact Mascara is a sample that was given to me by my mum. She uses a lot of Clinique products, and waits till they have freebies so she can stock up on her products. I always get the ones she doesn't want, so this time it was the mascara and the makeup bag it came with. It makes my lashes so fluttery and they don't clump at all. I would love to get the full size one when it dries up but I don't know if I can justify the price tag when you can get some amazing drugstore mascaras.

What have been your favourites this month?

Top 5 Winter Lipsticks

Winter is almost over in Australia, cue my sad face. I love winter because I love the cold, the rain, wearing darker colours, and wearing darker shades of lipstick. You can wear them anytime of the year but I think they just look and feel better in winter. But never feel pressured to wear them just in winter because people say so, they're your lips after all!

Top to bottom; Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Sultry, Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, MAC Matte Lipstick in Diva, MAC Matte Lipstick in Mehr.

What are your favourite lipsticks to wear during the colder months?

Empties #2

Another few months, another bunch of empty products. I'm going to give a mini review with each product just for your reference. The bag of empties was getting full so I decided to pull it all out and tell you about the rubbish hoarding under my desk.

Bioderma Crealine H2O Solution Micellaire: I loved this so much. I bought the mini size for when I went to Melbourne to test out. It is great for taking off makeup and is gentle for both the skin and eyes.
Would I repurchase: Yes.

Garnier Moisture Match Combination to Oily Skin: This is a great moisturiser for oily skin as not only does it hydrate your skin, it keeps the oil at bay. Great as a day cream before makeup.
Would I repurchase: Already have.

Clearasil Rapid Action Pads: It claims to reduce the size of pimples and redness in 4 hours but I found it did the opposite. They just irritated my skin and caused more problems.
Would I repurchase: No.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara: This mascara works really well for me as it lengthens my lashes but I never find that they get clumpy. The brush on this is probably why because it is a plastic brush with thin spokes.
Would I repurchase: Already have.

MOR Salt & Sugar Body Scrub in Honey Nectar: I got this for christmas as a free gift with my makeup bag by the same brand. It took me that long to finish it! I love it because the scrub is a lot chunkier than some other ones you can get so I found it more effective. However, I'm not really a fan of honey so the smell for me was a bit unsettling
Would I repurchase: Yes, but with a different scent.

Simple Kind to Skin cleansing Facial Wipes: These are so handy for cleaning makeup off my hands or on a lazy night when I don't want to use my cleansing oil. They're gentle on my skin and also affordable.
Would I repurchase: Always!

Aesop Oil Free Facial Hydrating Serum: This felt different as I've never used a serum before. However it did leave my skin feeling very soft the next day. It was only a sample size so I wasn't able to use it over a period of time.
Would I repurchase: Maybe.

Aesop Purifying Facial Exfoliant Paste: This was really nice as it was gentle exfoliator, and not as harsh as some other ones. I need something like this as I don't want to break the pimples on my face and this did the job.
Would I repurchase: Yes.

Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxident Facial Treatment: This wasn't my favourite of the Aesop samples as it was a bit too oily for my liking. However, I'd love to try it out for a longer period.
Would I repurchase: Maybe.

Origins Super Spot Remover: This is no miracle worker, but it does the job. I found my pimples were reduced in redness and size and it didn't dry out my skin.
Would I repurchase: Yes.

Bumble & Bumble Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner: I was so excited to see this in my Mecca Beauty Loop box as I've had my eyes in this set for a while. I wasn't overly impressed with the results, but I would like to try out the mini size as I feel that I would be able to see the results clearer over a longer period of time and not just 2 washes.
Would I repurchase: Maybe.

Where Have You Been All My Life? #2

Here is another instalment of "Where Have You Been All My Life?". I feel like lately I've been finding some really amazing products that work so well with my skin. And this product has been game changing, the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer.

I only bought the sample size, because I didn't want to spend $79 on a primer that was not going to work with my skin. But I started to run out today and I have the urge to go back and buy the full size. Why? Because it is the best primer I've ever tried. Hands down. I know, I used to rave on about the Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer but I came to realise that it wasn't doing anything to help my makeup stay on longer or control the oil. The Hourglass one seems to do both and it does them well. I have oily skin and my skin stays matte for longer. Yes, after about 6 hours I can see some shine on my nose but that is pretty darn impressive. And I've noticed that my makeup dies stay on for longer, but again, after about 8 hours, it does start to come off around my nose but I'm always itching my nose so that's fine. This primer isn't a miracle primer that will fix all my problems but it's pretty damn close.

I would highly recommend this primer to everyone, but definitely buy the small size first just incase it doesn't work as well for you.

Sephora Wishlist #1

I've been wanting to get things from Sephora for a long time but they don't ship to Australia. Not cool. But I've recently purchased items from Ulta through a shipping forwarding service, so when that arrives  I might then place an order for Sephora. Also, I am not going to buy this at once, that would hurt my bank account. These are just some things that I've been lusting after.
